Cases SL: Supreme Court Case on Nallaratnam Singharasa (Full Judgement)

The High Court convicted Nallaratnam Sinharasa on charges under the Prevention on Terrorism Act. He appealed to the Court of Appeal and then sought an appeal to the Supreme Court, with no avail. He, then, complained to the Human Rights Commission (HRC). After considering the facts in the Sinharasa case, the HRC said that Sri Lanka “…is under an obligation to provide the author with an effective and appropriate remedy, including release or retrial and compensation.” Below are the views of the Supreme Court on the above statement of the HRC.
